Why it matters
Lipoma removal is a minor operation that is easy to do adequately and harder to do well. These are the places experience shows up.
The judgement to order imaging on the one mass in a hundred that does not behave like a lipoma is the difference that matters most.
Deep and intramuscular lipomas sit next to nerves and vessels. Removing them cleanly without collateral damage is a trained skill.
